Yes 45 also 90 also is but it needs to be warmed
 
I did a bath overflow a long time ago (unusual large bore about 38mm from bad memory) a repair replacement, and made the new pipe by heating it. Had several attempts though before I was happy. Do it outside for safety. Filling with sand is interesting idea.
