Hi,
I wonder if I could have some advice please. I have a rental shepherds hut with an outdoor copper bath. I expect to close down for winter when the weather gets very cold. The majority of the piping is blue mdpe which is lagged. But where it joins the tap it's copper. I have lagged what...
Worcester Danesmoor 20/25, about 18 years old. B11 burner.
We came home a few days ago to find our boiler in lockout, and not wanting to restart, instead simply doing a pitiful whine. We called an engineer out yesterday who, after a quick diagnosis, worked out that the capacitor had gone. We...
Ideally, I want to cut these redundant pipes out. I’m pretty sure this is hair felt insulation but I’m a sparky by trade so not familiar with pipe lagging. I do know pipe lagging often contained asbestos and as the house was built in 1890 and sporadically worked on ever since… could do with some...
Re-done previous post as I was unclear.
Scenario - multi-million pound council programme to redistribute heat from a hospital, via a set of "block" boilers, into homes with heat exchangers. My personal bill was 15k for the local work (x290 flats in block) and 4k (x a lot) for the longer...

Hopefully the image link works - first time doing that.
My builder told me good lagging looks like this:
The council - leaseholder - has appointed contractors to remediate the prior remediation work done by other council contractors, for a heating job done by other...
I've recently bought an old RAF estate house witch hasn't been touched since 1940. I removed some lagging stupidly without checking if it was asbestos just wondering if anyone can help me out? Cheers.
Hi all,
I've not long moved into our current house and I have had the condensate pipe freeze during this recent weather so I am trying to help prevent it for next time. (It didn't freeze in the last sub zero spell of weather so I can only assume the wind didn't help)
Currently it is draining...
Hi,
My plumber chased some radiator pipes into my masonry wall and has left it to me to cover up - which I will do with plaster filler.
However - he hasn't put any protective cover on the pipes.
He suggested I get denso tape and wrap it round the copper pipes - but denso tape has a melt...
Hi Guys,
We have recently bought 1960's house which needs some work doing to it.
The pipes seem to be lagged in a brown hairy insulation (see pic - sorry quality isn't that good).
Does this contain asbestos?
Also,
The survey said that our cold water pipes would need better insulating but...
Hi, I have just started renovating my Victorian terrace (1890) and found this lagging around the pipes under the floorboards. Am I right in thinking this is just old felt lagging? Or is there any risk it could be asbestos? Up close it looks like brown fibres/hair.
Also would you remove and...
Hello forum. First time user here (and now registered)! Can someone please advise the best/recommended method to protect 15mm copper pipes that I will be setting back into a wall to feed radiators in my house. I've already chased the walls, which are standard concrete blocks, but I'm aware of...
Boiler is locking out after around 2 hours of being on, checked pump & valve & wiring & drained system, flushed pipes no blockage . Pump & 3 port valve are only 2 year old.
I'm an electrician and can wire central heating & take the controls apart but not trained on the pipes.
I've had the head...

Hi,
All the pipes in my loft have the foam insulation, except one that is lagged in something else. Is it asbestos? If not, what is it?
Many thanks, Russ
Anyone know of any companies that make pipe lagging in different colours as apposed to the usual black or grey? Doing a washroom where pipework has had to be wall mounted and would be nice to have white or cream lagging. Google has failed me. Cheers
